The session will provide learners with a nuanced understanding of the role of addiction medicine physicians as advocates. Viewers will obtain an understanding of a range of opportunities for advocacy, including for individual patients, at institutions, and at broader city, state and national levels, and concrete ideas for how to get more involved in advocacy. The session is presented by Sarah Wakeman, MD, Medical Director for Substance Use Disorder at Mass General Brigham, Medical Director for the MGH Substance Use Disorder Initiative, program director of the Mass General Addiction Medicine fellowship, Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Director of the Program for Substance Use and Addiction Services, MGH Division of General Internal Medicine.
